Today I am going to do some sewing if anyone wants to join in and post along with me today of their progress please do so. Motivation and encouragement go a long way. My friends TIRANE and SHARON are now sewing along with me ... anyone else wanna join in please do so.
I have two projects I am going to be sewing on today. One is my Mother's 30s Sampler and the other is my friend's Black, White and Red Rows that are going to be re-created. Hope to make progress on both of them today. Shoot would love to finish one of them!
7:00AM
Iron is warming, fabric, blocks, center are all pulled waiting to get started creating.
9:00AM
Have two sides added around the center. Sashing joined to the other two sides and need to get them added and then onto the next step.
11:30AM
Here is what I have gotten done so far. I messed up though but I'm not taking it out. I'll just make it work and go from here. Gonna take a sewing break and go mow the grass before it rains again. I'll be back at it later on though. I'm gonna finish this one today!
2:00PM
The grass is as done as I can get it - it's pouring now so what I didn't get done will be done on Monday. Now to work on the last border of this one and finish this top tonight! Gonna go check on Sharon and Tirane to see what they are up to in their sewing rooms.
4:30PM
I'm taking a break to update and get off my feet for a bit. I have all the squares cut for the scrappy border. next step will be the piecing of them. Still raining here so it nice and relaxing to hear it hit the vent pipes. Ting, Ting.
11:00PM
calling it quits on this one ... I have all the squares sewn together and laid out around the center. I'll sew them into place in the morning before church. Thanks for sewing along with me Tirane and Sharon. It's finally stopped raining - think I'm going to open the windows for the rest of the night.
until next time ... happy quilting

c'mon over to my blog for a refill on your coffee. i'll quilt along with you until around noon.
will do ... off I go ...
oooh! the top's coming along well. i'd better get a wiggle on...
Eileen....I just came into your blog...taking a little break. I will join in today. I have pinned on my grandsons quilt fo 2 days now and ran out of pins this AM so I set up my small quilting frame and am going to have to do the quilting by hand. I have 2 weeks to get it completed. Gotta get a move on.I will probably be quilting into the late evening. With a couple breaks in between. You are doing a great job on your Moms quilt. Not much further to go. You go girl!!!! Sharon
Oh!! Sharon you did find me! If you call me sometime I can walk you through working on your blog. It's easy peasy promise!
Thanks for joining my quiltathon. Let's make some progress. Can't wait to see how you quilt your GS's quilt. It is lovely.
hey! that's looking really good. when you're done with your yard, mine could use some trimming too... :)
Fantastic job Eileen...Your Mom is going to love it and I'm sure treasure it forever. I had to take a little break. It's going to be a slow process doing this one by hand. I am quilting in the ditch so thats not too bad. My hand quilting isn't the best since I am teaching myself but it's better than when I first began. I have been practicing on a pumpkin quilt so and as soon as I get this one done I will go back to it.
I am so frustrated......I can't do this by hand too many layers....I used a foundation to do the strippy blocks and so far it has taken me 2 hours to do 2 feet. At that rate I won't get the quilt finished in 2 weeks. I'll be lucky to get it done by the end of the year. Gonna take a break from it for the day and do something else. I have 18 coaster sets that I have ready to put together ....think I will work on those. Right now I have to run to the grocery and pick something up for supper. Will be backsoon.......
Sharon - don't give up on it - could you machine quilt it using your walking foot and doing stitch in the ditch quilting? Maybe taking a break is just what you need, a breather.
Tirane - well if you lived a bit closer I would come and help you out ya know I would ;O)
I'm Back....Eileen...that is what I was going to do but I ran out of safety pins layering it. So I torre it apart and going to repin to see if I can do it without running out. I will do that tomarrow. Keep your fingers crossed. The guys aren't ready to eat so I am going up and work on my coasters. Maybe I can get some of them done today.
I got a phone call from a gal that used to do sewing get togethers up at the library before I left for the store. She is doing a quilt retreat not far from where I live the end of Sept, asked if I would like to join in. Only $90 for three days and 5 meals furnished. Sounds like something that I need but unfortunately I will not be able to go. Oh,well, maybe next time.
Well off I go upstairs.....
wish you could go too. Sounds like a fun time. I haven't been to a retreat since the one I met you at.
Hope you get your coasters done. I have lots still I want to get done tonight so I am off and running again.
Wow, I am really impressed that you can do so much in a day! I want to learn to quilt, but it's a little intimidating to me. It would probably take me 3 months to do what you did today!
